The fundamental principles of our religion are the testimony of the Apostles and Prophets, concerning Jesus Christ, that He died, was buried, and rose again the third day, and ascended into heaven; and all other things which pertain to our religion are only appendages to it.

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I try to live a Christ-centered life: repentance when I fall short, participating in covenants that bind me to Him, and through the ordinary discipleship of everyday life at home and in my congregation. I like teaching and giving talks; the Plan of Salvation and the Atonement of Jesus Christ are themes I return to often.

From 2005 to 2007 I served as a full-time missionary in the Mérida Mexico Mission, on the Yucatán Peninsula. I learned Yucatec Maya first, then Spanish.
My mission included Cancun and the Riviera Maya, though all of my time was away from the Caribbean tourist corridor. I served primarily in smaller interior communities, places like Tzucacab, Uxmal, Muna and Escarcega to the South. I also had the privilege of serving in metropolitan areas like Merida and Progresso.
Life there is agricultural and community centered: a plaza in front of a Catholic Church, families living together in one house, milpa, monte, and pasture, tropical heat, lots of iguanas, and cenotes here and there.
Everyday Yucatec food is built on tortillas and beans, brightened by sour orange and achiote: cochinita pibil, panuchos, papadzules, and relleno negro. We weren’t allowed to drink the water in most places, so we drank a lot of Coca Cola and Friolin! Those years taught me to love people, to listen across language and culture, and to invite others to come unto Christ.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, our Savior and Redeemer. He lived a perfect life, taught His gospel, suffered and died for our sins, and rose again. Because of His Atonement; His suffering in Gethsemane and on the cross, and His Resurrection; we can be forgiven as we repent, healed, and live again. That is the heart of my faith.

Yes. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of the world, and we strive to follow Him. The Church teaches that it is a restoration of the Church Jesus established.

We believe we lived with God as spirits before birth. This mortal life on earth is a time to learn, grow, and choose. After death our spirits continue. Because of Jesus Christ, all will be resurrected. His grace helps us repent and become more like Him, with hope of living with God and our families forever. Death is not the end!

Yes! We revere the Bible as the word of God. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ, a scriptural record that testifies of Him and, together with the Bible, witnesses of God’s plan. It is meant to reinforce and expand our witness of Christ, not replace the Bible.

Absolutely! All are invited! Sunday worship usually includes sacrament meeting (hymns, prayers, short messages by members, and the sacrament, which is blessed bread & water in remembrance of Jesus’s sacrifice) and a second hour of classes. You don’t have to speak, donate, or even really believe to visit. Come as you are, and let God help you grow.
